“603 Day” (“6.03” or “6/03”): Celebrate The State of New Hampshire (NH) on June 3rd.

Granite Staters celebrate June 3 as “603 Day” or “New Hampshire Day,” in honor of the New Hampshire’s sole area code, 603, in the North American Numbering Plan (NANP).  In October 1947, the area code 603 was one of the original 86 numbering plan areas.

“603 Day“ began being celebrated around 2010.

On “603 Day,” it’s easy for many NH residents to express their love for The State of NH because as a few natives have stated:

• “You are close to everything:  mountains, ocean, lakes and even the big city (although not my idea of fun)!  We have four seasons and there aren’t all kinds of poisonous venomous creatures! And we have moose.”
• Others remarked that they enjoy the hardiness of Granite Staters.
• “Because it’s home.  I can go camping thirty minutes from my city apartment.  I have the right to do mostly what I want without people lording over me all the time.  And there seems to be a hardiness about the people here.  A toughness I did NOT see for the brief time when I lived in Boston, or in Nevada.”
